BUCHANAN, Wis (WFRV) - A plaque that was part of a memorial to honored a murder victim was stolen days after it was installed last month. That plaque was attracted to a bench in a park for Kathy Remter.

Remter was murdered in 2011 with a gunshot to the head. Her body was found in the Fox River near the park off County ZZ in Buchanan. Remter's son, Randal Rosenthal is charged with her murder and is awaiting trial in October.

Meanwhile, family member's are questioning why someone would remove a plaque that was donated by Kaukauna Utilities and included the names of those who helped build the bench. The theft has been reported to the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department, but family members don't think much will come from that. They believe the thief either tossed it away or scrapped it for money.
