(WFRV) -- Extra patrols will be looking out for drunk drivers as part of a national campaign.

The 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' crackdown will run until September 3rd.

Three local OWI Task Forces will be taking part in the enforcement.

Last year, 225 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes.  That's something authorities say they're serious about changing.

"We hope that a combination of education and enforcement really gets through the message clearly over this two week period not to drink and drive, to do so responsibly, use a designated drive and use a taxi or whatever it takes to you back and forth where you need to go safely," said Michael Panosh from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The State Patrol says a fifth OWI Task Force will soon be coming to Winnebago County.
