Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers have selected the contract of pitcher Tyler Thornburg from Double-A Huntsville.

Thornburg will start Tuesday night's game against the Blue Jays. Shaun Marcum was organically scheduled to take the mound, but was scratched due to tightness in his right elbow.

In 13 starts for Huntsville, Thornburg went 8-1 with a 3.00 ERA. He had 71 strikeouts and just 24 walks. He began the 2011 season with the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

The Brewers also designated infielder Brooks Conrad for assignment. He was 3- for-40 at the plate with two homers and six RBI in 25 games for Milwaukee this year.
