HealthWatch (WFRV) Cardiovascular disease takes the lives of more than 2,150 Americans every day. That is an average of one death every 4 seconds.
Which is why staying heart healthy is important.
Aurora BayCare Medical Center is holding a Heart-A-Thon that can help you on your way to getting heart healthy.
Ben Goodstein is the director of cardiac services at Aurora BayCare. 2 years ago, he was out of shape. So he started working out at Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Center.
"They have some awesome personal trainers. They have a great fitness workout area." Said Goodstein.
the facility offers cardiovascular classes designed to help your heart.
"There are so many benefits to be physically active. For heart disease, like I said, lowers your blood pressure and your heart rate." Said Personal Trainer, Regan Kust.
The facility is open to the public. Now you can check it out. The hospital is holding a Heart-A-Thon to celebrate American Heart Month.
Wellness Service Specialist, Nick Olsen says it's a fitness event to help raise awareness of cardiac disease. And you will get a good workout at the heart-a-thon.
"We do four group fitness style classes. So you're going through four different types of cardiovascular events. 20 minute classes each." Said Olsen.
The center helped Ben see results.
"I lost 32 pounds I used to not be able to run a mile. And last year I did a triathalon." Said Ben.
It costs 35 dollars a month to join the Center. A free assessment and classes are included.
The heart-a-thon is Saturday, February 16th at Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine center. It runs from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The cost is 5 dollars.
