COMBINED LOCKS, Wis. (WFRV) Last year, Keri Nelson's friend crossed a busy street in Combined Locks and was struck by a car.  "She's got a broken leg and she's having a hard time.  She's still around.  Struggling.  I'd love for her to get some help.  Her will to live is just amazing," Nelson told us.

With her scars exposed, Molly hobbles around the neighborhood.  She's replaced her herd and now calls the residents along State Street her family.

"It is a pet!  For the neighborhood.  In the morning for breakfast, she goes to Nancy's," says neighbor Korrie VanLith.

"She's tired, I think.  She's suffered long enough.  If we can get someone to fix her leg, that would be awesome," added Nelson.

The DNR says there is no way to rehab a wild deer.  Concerns about chronic wasting disease make it difficult to move the animal to another habitat.  Feeding Molly has made her dependent on humans.  She's been spotted sniffing through garages, sleeping under semis, doing whatever she can to survive.

"You can see it in her eyes.  She's going to try to keep going," said Nelson.
