(WFRV) -- Help may be on the way for those hit hardest by this summer's drought.

Officials from the USDA are touring farmland in Wisconsin and other states this week.

More than 13-hundred counties in 31 states have been declared as disaster areas.

23 counties are in Wisconsin, including Fond du Lac and Green Lake.  The designation allows farms to apply for emergency loans.

USDA officials will visit Wisconsin on Wednesday and Thursday, but the specific details have not been released.
