Drunk Driver Who Killed Appleton Native Sentenced to Prison

Minneapolis, MN (WFRV) -- A drunk driver who drove the wrong way on a Twin Cities area street and killed a 23-year old Appleton native has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
In March, a jury found Timothy Bakdash guilty of nine criminal counts against him, including second-degree homicide in the death of Ben Van Handel. Van Handel, originally from Appleton, was a student at the University of Minnesota. Two other victims were hurt; one suffered severe leg injuries.
During the trial, it was revealed that Bakdash was upset over an argument he had with someone at a nearby bar earlier in the evening. Police say Bakdash then drove the wrong way on a one-way street and hit the students.
