WIAA Keeps Boys State Basketball in Madison, Girls Tourney to be played at Resch Center in 2013 and 2014

The WIAA Board of Control voted unanimously Tuesday to keep the boys state basketball tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison through 2020, while the Resch Center in Green Bay will host the girls tournament the next two seasons.

The vote was taken at the Board of Control's annual meeting in Stevens Point.  It comes after months of speculation that the tournaments might move to Green Bay, due to hockey conflicts at the Kohl Center in Madison.  The WIAA Board recommended in February that the tournaments move to the Resch Center if conflicts in Madison aren't resolved.

Possible conflicts in Madison the next two years are a Wisconsin mens hockey WCHA tournament game in 2013 and a possible Womens Frozen Four in 2014.

Local 5 has a crew in Stevens Point and we'll have reaction from there and from Green Bay on Local 5 News at 5, 6, and 10 tonight.
