Teen helps organization host film in park aimed at teen issues

"Having like colored hair. I would dress completely differently...I was stereo-typed right away," Thompson said.
But Thompson says that was nothing compared to a fatal accident that killed two-teens March 21 and some of the comment she heard from her peers.
"There were just some students that were saying they were just scrubs anyway. So it didn't matter," she said.
But she felt otherwise and established "Promoting Awareness and Self in Society" or PASS. She was speaking with Vickie Schwahn about the film and they decided to hold free showings of the film in Washington Park. Schwahn has the film on home video and says it's compelling for teens.
"The kids were drawn to it and didn't want to leave. They wanted to see the whole thing. They were impress with it and wanted to watch it a second time," she said.
Breanna Thompson hopes it'll make her peers think twice about their actions and words.
"Words can sometimes be the most painful thing. More than the physical," Thompson said.
The film will be shown at dusk in Washington Park in Manitowoc Friday and Saturday. It will be preceeded by music and a skit starting at 7:00 PM.
