GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Packers season ticket holders have the power to switch seats right now.

They have the option to relocate to the new south end.

"I am very excited especially for the jumbotron" says season ticket holder Dan Malsavage.

Lambeau's makeover will allow 80,000 fans the ultimate game day experience.

"The physical structure itself is designed to keep the noise inside the stadium" explains The Packers Director of Public Affairs, Aaron Popkey. "I know the coaches stress that they are excited about the additional fans, additional energy".

The final phase of the expansion includes the addition of 6,500 new seats. Season ticket holders get first pick.

However, if they opt to move they cannot go back.

Malsavage sits in seats passed down from his father.

"The only stipulation is my dad gets the aisle seat" he jokes.

Dan's Great Aunt and Uncle bought the seats when the stadium first opened.

He does not plan to move.

"It is just a family tradition I would like to stay in those seats" says Malsavage.

He likes the view and camaraderie.

"You could meet new friends but you don't want to leave the old friends" says Malsavage.

The tickets in the new section are higher up and slightly more, $82 or $89.

However, there are perks.

"All seats have chair backs, all have cup holders, dedicated entrance, more concessions and more restrooms" explains Popkey.

The amenities won't sway a fan like Dan. "It's the aluminum seats, the cold hinder in the winter time. You gotta love it".

The new seats will make thousands on the waiting list very happy.

Many fans have asked why the team isn't adding backs to the benches already in the bowl..

The packers tell Local 5 they would lose 12,000 seats in the process.

Ticket holders have until September 20th to relocate their seats.

You do not have to do anything to keep your current spot.
