GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Friday's episode of the CBS hit reality show "Undercover Boss" has local ties. It features 1981 UW-Green Bay graduate Mark King, who now runs the largest manufacturer of golf equipment and apparel in the world, TaylorMade Golf Company.
"At first," King explained. "Ii liked the show, but I didn't know if I really wanted to do it, and then I decided that it would be great on a lot of different fronts."
King said it was not only an opportunity to put his company in the national spotlight, but a chance to see if his employees are happy. He said his experience was eye-opening.
"They need to be recognized more, they need to be celebrated more," he said of his employees. "I think the thing I probably learned the most is that they need to be listened to more."
It's the same message King delivered to business students at his alma mater just last month. King came back to the UWGB campus for business week.
"Our students are typically first generation attendees and they're not necessarily aware of just how good they are," commented Don McCartney, with the UWGB business school. "So it's good to see someone attain a top position so they can see that they too can do the same thing."
McCartney said King never passes up a chance to give back, and he hopes Friday's episode will highlight that to the entire nation.
The episode airs April 6th at 7:00pm on Local 5.
