MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) Menasha Police are warning residents living along Kernan Avenue about a peeping tom. They received a report from a woman who claims she saw a suspicious man in her window this week. Police are using social media, like Facebook and Twitter to help get the word out.
The department just started using these sites to great success. They posted a picture of a retail theft suspect on-line and within 30 minutes, someone was able to positively identify the individual.
Officials hope to be able to crack this case by spreading more information about the peeping tom. "If we can be transparent and get as much information out there as possible, that's an important thing for us," says Community Liaison Officer Aaron Zemlock.
The peeping tom is also stirring up lots of emotion about a decade-old case. Todd Meverden was convicted of a string of home invasions and sexual assaults in Winnebago and Calumet counties. Meverden's case helped lead to Wisconsin's Peeping Tom Law, which was passed in 2003.
