Ashwaubenon Says No to Money for Pedestrian Bridge

Ashwaubenon, WI (WFRV) The Village of Ashwaubenon has chosen not to chip in $1.1 million on a new pedestrian bridge over Highway 172.
If built, the bridge would have spanned from Pioneer Park to North Road, near Babcock Road.
The total cost of the project would have cost $3.2 million with the remainder of the cost being paid for by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT).
One village official told Local 5 News that the decision not to spend the money was based on current economic conditions. The board did pass a resolution asking the DOT to upgrade Highway 172 and Babcock Road as an area for pedestrians to cross the road.
