DARBOY, Wis. (WFRV) "Charlie was crying for me and yelling that he didn't want to die."
Charlie Knuth is in the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of Minnesota Hospital after his nurse called "code blue" yesterday. The six-year-old from Darboy was being prepped for a CT scan to figure out why his stomach was swelling. While special dye was being put in his g-tube, Charlie's heart rate suddenly dropped.
Charlie immediately reached out for his mother, Trisha.
"Charlie was crying for me and yelling that he didn't want to die," Trisha Knuth wrote in her online journal.
While doctors worked to save Charlie, Trisha did everything she could to hold it together.
"I have not let Charlie see me scared. After the episode this morning I had my breakdown in the hallway. I did not want him to know how scared I am. I have seen code blue's way too many times. I can tell you that it has not gotten any less horrifying."
The family hopes to learn more about Charlie's condition after they get the results from the CT scan.
Trisha says she does not leave Charlie's side, but she is reading everyone's messages and thanks everyone for thinking of Charlie.
