Oconto County, Wis (WFRV) - The Drug Enforcement Agency says 7 people have been arrested in a marijuana growing bust in Oconto County.
The marijuana grow sites were found along the south branch of the Oconto River in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Federal agents say they found around 15,000 plants worth $15,000,000 on the street
Federal agents have identified the suspects as Maria Blanca Garcia, Miguel Sanchez-Garcia, Pedro Enfante-Ramirez, Guillermo Chavez-Carrion, Jose Alfredo Sierra-Aguilar, and Juan Carlos Cerventes-Contreras. The 7th person has not been identified.
The investigation started back in June when the growing operation was spotted by a hunter who notified the DNR. Investigators say they used GPS devices and cameras to track the suspect's cars.
They say they expect to find even more grows around the area and will use a helicopter to canvas the area.
