Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)--The sound of The Salvation Army bell will again be heard throughout Brown County beginning this Friday, November 9 as this is the first official day of the 2012 Bell Season. To date, 1,060 volunteer bell ringers have registered for shifts throughout Brown County and there are still plenty of shifts open with 13,367 one hour shifts available.

"We are overjoyed at the outpouring of community support we see every year with the Bell Ringing Season', states Captain Ken Shiels, county coordinator for The Salvation Army of Brown County. "The Salvation Army of Brown County is extremely blest to have volunteer minded neighbors who offer their time in support of programs that help others in need."

Bell Season runs Friday, November 9, 2012 and Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 56 kettle sites throughout Green Bay and the surrounding area. This year, The Salvation Army will be introducing "Themed Thursdays" in which volunteers are asked to participate in a united theme as they ring. The Thursday Themes are as follows:

December 6: Elves
December 13: Reindeer
December 20: Mr. & Mrs. Clause

In 2011, 2,555 volunteers logged over 10,590 hours of bell ringing. To sign up for bell ringing shifts please call (920) 884-3077 or visit www.ringbells.org.
