Restoration of iconic cabin nearly complete

Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - A project to save an iconic log cabin in Green Bay is nearing completion.
Over the past few months, community members and volunteers have been working to fix the log cabin outside of Fort Howard elementary school.
Saturday, they were checking the logs of the cabin to help seal it against moisture and insects.
The cabin was built more than 3 decades ago and could have been demolished because it has fallen into disrepair over the years.
The project's manager, James Hayward say the cabin represents an important part of Wisconsin's historic heritage.
"As long as Wisconsin has been a territorial state," project manager James Hayward says, "the people who have come to this state built log structures. Our post offices, our law offices, our courthouses, our government agencies, our military posts."
The cabin was originally created to celebrate the bicentennial of our nation's independence.
