Target opened its doors at 9pm, and so far so good. Staff were letting shoppers in 30 at a time to keep everyone safe, and it seems to have worked.
A noticeable security presence monitored things. When the store opened, the line went all the way around the back of the building. The big ticket item, a 50 inch flat screen going for $250. The store is also handing out gift cards to people who buy high priced items like an iPad.
People who got there just before 9pm admit, they should have gotten in line sooner.
"There is quite a few people in front of us, yes. But there is a few things that we'll still get," said Erin Messart.
This year, target opened its doors three hours earlier to accommodate shoppers, and for many this stop is just the beginning of a long weekend of shopping.
