Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)-- Each time theVikings take on the Packers, there's no love lost between Minnesota and Green Bay fans.
Chris Zaves:"There's nothing there to worry about. Mall of America. That's it when you think of Minnesota. They don't play football."
Patti and Jim Hutchens:"They can't win a Super Bowl. The always get to the playoffs and they get beat."
With the exception of the 2005 playoff game at Lambeau where the Vikings won. A longtime Packer sportswriter says that's one part of a long feeling of betrayal in the Packer nation."
Cliff Christl:"People in Minnesota were generally Packer fans before the Vikings came into being in 1961. The Packer fan base extended into Minnesota and into the Dakotas."
Since the 60's each team has prevailed over the other in alternating decades.
Cliff Christl:"Well the Packers dominated at the beginning, when the Vikings were an expansion team. Then Lombardi left. Bud Grant came to Minnesota and the tide turned and the Vikings began to dominate."
Now certainly the Packers-Vikings rivalry has intensified in recent years. But when it comes to other North Division opponents, well, it still has a long way to go."
Cliff Christl:"You don't go up to Door County and hear people talk, people from Wisconsin making snide remarks about Minnesota the way you hear them comment on people from Illinois or Chicago."
