APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) Several pro-health care groups are coming together in the Valley, urging Governor Walker to accept federal ObamaCare money.
The state can take $12 billion throughout the next 10 years to strengthen BadgerCare and expand Medicaid. Advocates say the money could also create 10,000 health care jobs in Wisconsin and take 9,000 off BadgerCare waiting lists in Outagamie and Winnebago Counties alone.
We're told the Governor will make a decision about the money by February, when he releases his budget proposal. His office released the following statement to Local 5:
"The budget Governor Walker signed into law last year increased state taxpayer spending on Medicaid by $1.2 billion--the largest increase in our state's history, and one of the largest increases per capita in the country. We're still evaluating the impact future Medicaid expansions would have on Wisconsin citizens."
