CALUMET COUNTY, Wis (WFRV) Parents of a girl found dead near New Holstein Friday are looking for answers as police continue their investigation.

"Something strange here, something don't sound right," says Dennis Batts.

Dennis and his wife Julie want to know what led to their daughter's body being found behind a house Friday afternoon.

"I feel empty because I don't have, there is no answer yet as to why our daughter died," says Julie.

Monica's parents say she had been missing for about a week.

"She left here Sunday night and she told me she loved me," says Julie.

After five days of unanswered calls and texts, Monica's mother knew something was wrong.

"I just had that feeling because it was a mother's intuition," she says.

Police say they are interviewing friends and family as part of the investigation. Julie says she suspects foul play was involved in her daughters death.

"I'm not speculating or accusing anybody because I don't know, but when she left here she was fine, now she's dead, and found in somebody's back yard," says Julie.

When WFRV contacted Calumet Count Sheriff's Office for a response, they said that the sheriff would not be available for comment until Monday.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning to find out how Monica died.

"I'll feel a little bit better after tomorrow because when toxicology reports come back, if there was something in her system, then how did it get there, who gave it to her, that's what I want to know," says Julie.

Police say that the owner of the property where Monica Batts was found is cooperating with the investigation.
