Sturgeon Spearing to Close Sunday

By: Chelly Boutott

Lake Winnebago (WFRV) --  There is only one more day left in the Sturgeon Spearing Season here in Northeast Wisconsin.

A total of 21 fish were harvested from Lake Winnebago Saturday and three of those fish weighed more than 100 pounds.

A slow start to the season has kept harvest numbers under the cap.  Poor water visibility and uncertain ice conditions were some of the factors that kept numbers low.

Which allowed the season to run its full sixteen day course on Lake Winnebago.  The season on the upper lakes closed early.
