Menasha (WFRV)  Dozens of local people came out Saturday night to support some local teens tackle a tough issue-- and save lives.

Learn 2 fly: Spread Your Wings fundraising event was Saturday night at Waverly Beach in Menasha.

The event is raising money to prevent teenage suicide.

16 year old Katie Gloede formed the group Learn 2 Fly after one of her friends committed suicide and another tried.  Katie and her friends organized the event and have been selling bracelets and t-shirts.

Katie doesn't believe many teenagers know the warning signs of suicide.  The money raised will go towards paying for suicide awareness professionals to speak at schools in the Valley.

Next up for the group, a suicide awareness walk in September.
