STURGEON BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) A major bridge will shutdown today, causing delays for anyone heading up to Door County.

The Bayview Bridge in Sturgeon Bay is the main thoroughfare for travel to places like Fish Creek and Egg Harbor. It carries Highways 42 and 57 over Sturgeon Bay.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will close the bridge down for 4 months. It's all part of a $4.8 million upgrade project.

While detours will be set up, the DOT says to expect delays.

Of course the real test will come in a few months when the tourist season begins and traffic becomes heavy.

Local 5's Wendy Fleury was near the bridge this morning. Click the video link above to see her report.
