We're now a little more than two months away from the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon.

Anyone who runs understands that soreness the next day.  Many times that soreness derails people from their training.

But there is a simple way to help eleviate that pain and avoid injury.

Stretching is something we know we should do, however we don't give ourselves enough time to do it.

Prevea Sports Medicine Director Mike LaMere feels stretching is very important.

He says stretching not only help with flexibility but it can also help your muscles feel better by getting that latic acid out.

LaMere suggests stretching for 5 to 10 minutes and holding each stretch for 15 to 30 seconds.

Besides your regular "static" stretching, where you're motionless, there's also "dynamic" stretching where you move and stretch at the same time (see video).

Stretching can be time consuming, however it's something LaMere feels you should make time for.

"It's what you put into the program is what youre going to get out of it.  So the more time you stretch, the better you're going to feel in the long run," says LaMere.

Lamere suggests that you stretch your entire body, not just your legs, because you use your entire body to run.
