FOND DU LAC (WFRV) It takes only one look at Ma & Pa's Miracle Mile in Fond du Lac to know a big lottery jackpot is up for grabs.

"Here's the winner," proclaimed one Mega Millions ticket buyer.

Customers swarm here because good fortune has smiled many, many times. That includes the record $206-million dollars Powerball prize won by a group Sargento employees in 2006.

"This is the luckiest place in the world. We've had 26 big winners, equaling nearly a 300-million dollar pay out," said Mitch Miles of Ma & Pa's Miracle Mile.

In fact from the time some of these customers went from the back of the line to the counter, the jackpot increased from 540-million dollars to 640-million dollars. But more than a few came here on a whim.

"So we came to Wisconsin on spring break rather than Florida this year. And we knew that the lottery was going on. So we decided to buy some lottery tickets," said Barb Stanch of Chicago, who stopped with her daughter Julia.

But lottery officials remind prospective winners that taking the upfront payment would gross you about 460-million dollars.

"About a third of that goes for taxes. So you've got only 300-million for walking around money," said Wisconsin Lottery Director, Mike Edmonds.

With a pay out of over 400-million dollars, people have just about every kind of idea on how to spend it.

We'll I'd probably bury it. Bury it on my own island," said Curtis Cleveland of Fond du Lac, tongue in cheek.

Local 5's Terry Kovarik has the story.
