Town of Black Wolf, Wis. (WFRV) -- Zebra mussel shells on the shores of Lake Winnebago are proving to be a pain to deal with.

Some residents say no matter what they do, they just can't seem to rid themselves of the problem.

At the Jesuit Retreat House, zebra mussel shells have affected the water flow near the property for the last three years.

The shells are pushed into a channel by the wind cutting off the flow of water from Lake Winnebago.

Because of that, fishing boats, fish and fresh water can't pass into the lake or channel.

Property owners are responsible for cleaning up the shells.
