Green Bay (WFRV) Northeast Wisconsin Technical College was the site for the State Skills USA Welding Competition.
Students from six technical colleges in the state took part.
The 15 competitors got to show of what they learned in school by building a pressure vessel. Their work is judged by industry representatives who are always looking for good welders.
The winner of this event will go on to Nationals to see who will represent Wisconsin in June.
Jobs in welding are wide open right now across the state and nation. After going through a five year apprenticeship, workers have been known to make 30 to 35 dollars per hour.
