GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV)--Hundreds of veterans gathered in Green Bay today to celebrate a special group.

Operation Greatest Generation was held at the National Railroad Museum. Altogether, 600 veterans, including 200 from World War II, were in attendance. Organizers say it's one way to say thanks to a generation that has meant so much to the country.

The Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs, John Scocos, "We're honoring a generation that brought democracy to the world and were really unparalleled, not only in the combat, but as the 16 million men and women who served during that generation."

This was the first event of it's kind to be held in Wisconsin.
