APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) A free screening of a new documentary film focusing on the Koch Brothers took place in Outagamie county Wednesday night. The movie, called "Koch Brothers Exposed," alleges manipulation of the billionaire brothers in everything from congressional elections to school board decisions.
A large chuck of the film involves Governor Scott Walker.
Filmmakers lead you to believe the brothers have spent millions to keep Walker in office and further their own agenda of eradicating unions, and loosening of environmental regulations.
Jesse Lava, the Campaign Director at Brave New Foundation - the group behind the film - tells Local 5 exclusively, "The billionaire Koch brothers are longtime patrons of Scott Walker, and they know what they're getting in return. Walker's 'divide and conquer' strategy to bring down Wisconsin workers has been sponsored by the Koch front group Americans for Prosperity - which has spent boatloads of cash trying to keep Walker from being recalled - and by the Koch's directly through campaign contributions." Lava goes on to say, "Add in the fact that the Koch's father was a founder of the segregationist and conspiratorial John Birch Society headquartered in Grand Chute, and there may be no state in the union where the Koch's have done more to undermine the public interest than Wisconsin."
Kay Bubolz, a local conservative, weighed in on the films message. Through the Outagamie County Republicans, she told us "Documentaries like Greenwald's movie are unfair and manipulative. They make statements without providing any evidence to support their statements. The viewer has no way to test its accuracy."
