DARBOY, Wis. (WFRV) - A Darboy child battling a rare skin disease has been rushed to University of Minnesota Hospital.

A close family friend tells Local 5 News, Charlie Knuth was taken to the hospital by his parents, Trisha and Kevin Knuth today.

The Knuth's have been suffering from a lingering cold in the household and Trisha thought that Charlie may have come down with strep throat.

After scheduling a local doctor's appointment for this morning, Charlie's condition worsened Wednesday night and their doctor in Minnesota urged the family to make the emergency trip.

Charlie suffers from epidermolysis bullosa, he had undergone a stem cell transplant in 2011 and has since made a remarkable recovery.
