GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - It was a night Packers fan had been waiting for. The team took to the field Thursday for their pre-season opener against the San Diego Chargers.

"They can totally kick butt this season," Kyle Klein said.

It may just be pre-season play, but the excitement level during the green and gold's first official outing was still high. And so are fans hopes going forward.

"I think they're going to learn from their mistakes from last year," Mary Wodack said. "I think everybody is going to step it up and I think we're going to be champs again this year."

"I have huge hopes for the Packers," Sarah Klein said. "I think they can do great things on the field. They have a great team, obviously led by Aaron Rodgers, but lots of great supporting people with him and I think they can go all the way. I really do see us in the Super Bowl."

"I think they can go all the way," Sally Schuler said. "They'll do it. I have faith in them."

It wasn't only a chance to catch a glimpse of some of the starters, but fans also wanted to see what the rookies could do.

"I hear a lot of them are going to be good," said Wodack. "I think everyone is vying for a spot on the team and they're going to play their A-game. It may be pre-season to us, but to them, it's all out there."
