GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. (WFRV) Prostitution. It's a widespread problem in the Town of Grand Chute. Now law enforcement and hotel owners have joined together  to deter the activity.

Since April 2011, police have arrested 74 prostitutes and 100 johns for soliciting prostitutes. Those numbers continue to climb.

A new hotel ordinance, a first in the State of Wisconsin, was put in place in June of this year to address prostitution and other crimes.  While the ordinance holds hotel owners more accountable for illegal activity occurring on their premises, police say it's really a working partnership.

"We have hotels who are inviting us to come into their property and to work on those type of crimes," said Chief Greg Peterson from the Grand Chute Police Department. "They've allowed us to intervene before the crimes have actually taken place. That's exactly what the ordinance is intended to do."
