Oshkosh, Wis. (WFRV) - Oshkosh police say a woman is dead after she was hit by 2 vehicles dragged down the street while walking on the street early Friday morning.

It happened in downtown Oshkosh just before 2 am.

Officers say the 53-year-old woman was hit at the intersection of 8th and Ohio by a vehicle and dragged one block.

The woman was then hit by an SUV which left the scene.

She was taken to a local hospital where she eventually died.

A 45-year-old woman who was driving the initial vehicle was arrested and it appears alcohol was involved.

Police say they are looking for the 2nd vehicle, a white colored Ford Explorer or Expedition.

Officers say the driver did know that they hit someone.

"The white colored SUV stopped, backed up and left the scene without reporting anything to the police department and is at this time unknown where the vehicle is or the driver." Sgt. Eric Stenson of the Oshkosh Police department says.

The victim has not been identified.

Police say they're still investigating the incident and if you have any information, you should call Oshkosh police at 920-236-5700.
