Appleton, Wis.(WFRV)--Trial began today for a Brillion man accused of killing his mother.
35 year old Randal Rosenthal faces a charge of first degree murder.
A jury was selected and opening statements were heard today in Outagamie County.
Prosecutors allege that Rosenthal shot and killed 52 year old Kathleen Remter last July, in order to collect a $586,000 life insurance policy.
Rosenthal claims he is innocent, and says his mother was alive when he left her during a fishing trip.
The trial will continue through the week.
