GREEN BAY (WFRV) It's been a long 60-days at the De Pere Super store on Main Avenue and U.S. 41. Reconstruction closed off access to and from the highway. That kept some customers away except for some die-hards.

"I live here in West De Pere. So I knew the way to get, even though everything else was blocked," said Francis Tolan of West De Pere

"There are quite a few faces we have been missing. But hopefully they will find us back in their regular routine once everything is back to normal out front here," said BP De Pere Super Store manager Cassie McPherson.

Things get back to normal at U.S. 41 and Main Avenue on Friday while near normal conditions return to I-43 over the Leo Frigo Bridge Thursday. Then the Lakeview Bridge over U-S 41 in Howard opens to traffic for good on Saturday. It's all part of seasonal shutdowns that are timed perfectly.

"We normally figure about the time the deer hunting season starts and also Thanksgiving that's when we end our normal construction season," said Mike King, U.S. 41 Construction Supervisor. "Temperatures get too cold. Frost gets in the ground. It's hard to place concrete."

While work on the Frigo Bridge and U-S 41 will resume in the spring, drivers will likely find the going next summer a bit easier.

"We'll continue to have interchange closures in the future. But not quite the number of them in one year," King said.

On U.S 41, the speed limits will remain at 55 miles-an-hour. 55 will also be the limit on southbound i-43 between Atkinson Avenue and Webster Avenue, but the limit is being raised in the northbound lanes to 65.

Local 5's Terry Kovarik has the story.
