Madison, Wis. (WFRV) - Governor Scott Walker has made a decision on how Wisconsin will deal with the Affordable Care Act.

He has decided Wisconsin will not set up it's own health insurance exchange.

Instead the state will leave it up to the federal government.

In a phone call with reporters this morning, Governor Walker called a state-run exchange too big of a risk for Wisconsin tax-payers.

He also said the federal government still wouldn't give states enough control...

"The problem is these exchanges as defined by the affordable care act really if given the choice of state or federal run are state in name only," Walker says.  "They don't give the kind of true flexibility that would be required to create something unique for our state the state of Wisconsin."

Governor Walker made his announcement Friday, even though the deadline to make a decision was pushed back to mid-December.
