GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) Addressing a standing room only crowd at the Regan Presidential Library, the governor weighed in on his plans for the next two years.

"We're working on massive tax reform. We're going to continue to lower our property taxes, and we are going to put in place an aggressive income tax reduction and reform in the state of Wisconsin," said Governor Walker.

Many lawmakers in Wisconsin had to find the speech on YouTube. Once they say it, both Democrats and Republicans were swift to react.

"The governor's done a pretty darn good job of getting things out there, especially on dealing with a balanced budget. I mean, the precedence is there that he's going to have a balanced budget," says Republican State Senator Robert Cowles.

"Before we start looking at doing a huge income tax cut, I think we want to make sure that we are restoring some of the cuts to the important priorities that the people of Wisconsin demand in this state," says Democrat State Representative Gordon Hintz.

Cowles doesn't want to commit to any cuts until the Fiscal Bureau releases their revenue report in January.

"Until we have an idea of how much there is, it is premature to say we are going to cut income taxes like the governor wants," he says.

Other Republicans agree, but say it is not premature to start talking. Hintz, along with fellow Dems are eager for more discussion on all the issues.

"Without details, we can't say if these are ideas or not," says Hintz.

An afterhours call by WFRV to Governor Walker's office was unreturned. The next legislative session begins in January.
