Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - House fires are something fire departments across the state are fighting to avoid this holiday season.

With all the Christmas decorations that include candles and lights, the holidays can be a dangerous time for fires.

Which is why the Green Bay Fire Department is beginning it's called the "Keep the Wreath Green" program today.

Every year the department hangs wreaths outside it's stations lit with green Christmas lights.

For every residential fire that happens over the holidays, a light will be changed to red.
