Ashwaubenon, Wis (WFRV) The long lines of Black Friday are gone, and shoppers are crossing items off their gift lists.

Initial numbers indicate, nationally, shoppers spent more money this Black Friday weekend than last, but in Green Bay, Tracy Nielsen bucked the trend.

"I spent actually a lot less, and I have a 16-year old daughter, so we are all good," says Nielsen.

Tracy spent most of her money on less flashy items, like sweaters, shirts and pants - no big ticket items.

A poll on our website, wearegeenbay.com, says about 35% of people in the area will spend between $100-$500.

Tyler Kamin has been shopping all weekend. He's spending more and for good reason.

"Definitely more, cause we have the baby," says Kamin.

Tyler is hoping for a new TV this year, but admits it is all about his 15-month old son this time around. So, most money will be spent on baby clothes and things for the house.

The National Retail Federation reports, 247 million people visited stores and websites over the weekend - up from 226 million last year.

One thing most of those shoppers have in common, the search for a good deal.

"We definitely took advantage of the day after Black Friday, during the day, all the specials," says Kamin.

"I got a lot of coupons in the mail, so those were good too," says Nielsen.
