Appleton, Wis.(WFRV)--This Friday is a chance to make your donations go farther in the Fox Cities.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $125,000 at more than 50 Fox Cities Salvation Army red kettles on Friday, November 30, 2012.
If all $125,000 is matched this year, Thrivent Financial and the Fox Cities community will again break the national record for a Salvation Army match-day giving.
Thrivent Financial's Red Kettle Match Day Challenge remains the largest continuous community matching day event for The Salvation Army in the United States.
"The level of generosity we see in this community is overwhelming," said Captain Randy Tooley, corps officer, The Salvation Army - Fox Cities. "Our local residents come together year after year to help their neighbors in need and we're proud to continue our partnership with Thrivent Financial to help stretch that generosity even further."
The match day is now in its ninth consecutive year and thanks to community response, what started as a $25,000 match grant in 2004 now has surpassed $125,000. In 2012, an important milestone could be reached as the total community giving in addition to matching funds is expected to exceed the $2 million mark as a result of eight years of generosity in the community.
"Our goal is to continue to inspire generosity among others," said Peter Gianopoulos of Thrivent Financial. "We are fortunate to be among neighbors that continuously accept our challenge to raise these staggering amounts for The Salvation Army in helping our community members in need."
