Fond du Lac, Wis. (WFRV) -  It's called the "Can't Depend on Snow" sled-dog race for a reason.

The 9-th annual event was held Saturday in Fond du Lac.

Participants used a wheeled rig, so no snow is needed.

All of the money raised from the race goes toward the "Make a Wish" foundation.

It's an organization near and dear to Jeanna Giese's heart.

She raced today, but back when she was 15, she became the first person to ever survive rabies without a vaccination.

"Today went pretty good," she says." It was my first race, I was really excited.  This is an awesome event for make a wish.  I was able to come out here and contribute to the fundraiser."

Giese hopes more people will get involved with sled-dog racing.

Participants today came from all across the mid-west.

Their goal was to raise $6,500 dollars.
