Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) - A film following veterans traveling to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. began showing at selected theaters in Northeast Wisconsin today.

The documentary film "Honor Flight" began showing at Marcus Theatres in Northeast Wisconsin Wednesday.  For veterans who've seen it, it's an emotional experience.

The film follows the efforts of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Division based out of Milwaukee, as they work to send every World War II veteran on a free trip to Washington D.C to visit the war memorials dedicated to their service.

The "Honor Flight" allows veterans to talk about their experience, some for the first time with family members and follow vets.

Elmer Dalebroux of Green Bay went on an Honor Flight with his daughter Denise, and both came to the first screening of the film tonight.

He was too emotional to talk about the film, his daughter so very proud of her dad's service and sacrifice.

"Honor them, they are aging" she says. "We are losing like 900 World War II veterans each day and do all we can for them because we owe them our lives."

Honor flight is a national program which has flown over 81,000 World War II vets to Washington for free since 2005.

The documentary is being shown at select Marcus Theaters through December 7th.
