Snow plow operators face heavy workload

Green Bay, Wis.(WFRV)-- Today's winter storm has meant a heavy work load for municipal plow drivers in our area.
Green Bay public works drivers are about to mark 16-hours clearing snow to make the going a little better for drivers.
Plow operators knew when they took to the road they'd be looking at a long day, and they expect it this time of year.
Major arterial roads were the top priority in each of the 16 plowing routes.
Plows eventually moved into residential areas.
They encountered some vehicles parked on streetx, which is against city ordinances.
Plow drivers will call in the location and parking utility crews will issue tickets and have cars towed.
So they urge car owners to do the right thing by parking off of the streets...so plows can clear away all of the snow.
Snow plow operator Stuart Stormer says, "They're not only hurting themselves, it's their neighbor on the road or anybody else that has to travel down the road. Because if we can't get back there and get it back on the curb, then it's going to sit there."
While residential streets have been plowed later because of heavier, wet snow, Stormer says residents have been pretty understanding.
Many have given him the thumbs-up as he drives by.
Local Five's Terry Kovarik rode along with Stormer on his route, and has this report.
