GREEN BAY, Wisc. (WFRV) Police received several reports of vehicles being broken into overnight on Green Bay's westside.

Calls came in from a wide area around Shawano and Mililtary Avenue.

Police set up a perimeter and began scouring the area for two male teens who were believed to be suspects. A K9 unit was also called in to help with the search.

One male teen was taken into custody.

Local 5 caught up with a homeowner on Boland Road who had her garage and vehicle broken into.

"I just want to let everybody in the neighborhood know to lock all your doors and make sure everything's locked, even during the day, at night, anytime of the day. Make sure everything's locked because you never know when it's going to happen."

Police are alerting all citizens to take extra precaution so they don't become victims. They offer these tips:

Lock your vehicles and do not leave purses, wallets, garage door openers and items such as iPods in your vehicle.

Make sure all windows are secured. Remember to close and lock your garage door at night and check your doors at night before you go to sleep.

If you have valuables in your garage, make sure they are not visible through a garage window.

Make your house less attractive by "hardening the target". Make your house harder to enter so that the burglar will simply bypass your house. This can be done by leaving outdoor lights on, having motion detector lights around your outside doors, having solid core doors and heavy-duty locks.

Use a secondary blocking device on patio doors.

Calls continue coming into the police department of more people experiencing break-in's

If you have any information on the break-ins overnight or if you are a victim, please call the Green Bay Police Department  920-391-7450.
