Green Bay (WFRV)  The freezing temperatures moving in can be dangerous if you are out in the cold too long.

St. Mary's Hospital in Green Bay does see cases of frostbite in its emergency room when the temperatures go below zero with sub zero wind chills.

Dr. Al Salmi says exposed skin tissue can freeze within minutes causing frostbite.

So you should protect yourself when you go outside by dressing in layers and covering your most vulnerable areas-- your nose, ears, fingertips and toes.

"Any layers are good layers.  Higher propylene underwear that wick moisture away from the surface.  Good old fashioned wool is a great way to go even if it does get moist or wet, it will still keep you warm.  We tend to stay away from cotton that tends to hold cold water or cold body moisture." Said Dr. Salmi.

Dr. Salmi also says you should always wear a hat because we lose most of our body heat through the head.
