Keeping pets safe during cold weather

(WFRV) -- Humane shelters remind that it is especially important to keep pets in mind during bitter cold temperatures.

Experts advise to only leave your dog or cat outdoors for a shortened period, and make sure to supervise their exercise.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to wipe down your pet's legs and stomach after coming indoors.  That will remove salt, antifreeze or any other potentially dangerous chemical that's often used in the winter time.
