As President Obama launched his second term in office in front of hundreds of thousands of people in D.C. Monday, several Green Bay residents gathered to watch together at the Brown County Democratic Headquarters.

"It's more fun being with the people, good food, good friends and these people all worked very hard to get President Obama elected," said Brown County Democratic Party Volunteer, Richard Langan.

Watching the President deliver his second inaugural speech on a day where our nation honors a Civil Rights icon, viewers said made it that much more emotional.

Democrat, Katy Rodon, said, "I think it's wonderful that we are able to celebrate it on Martin Luther King Day.  I think that's just fantastic.  I don't often show my emotions but I was very emotional with this and I think it was a great speech."

"We really believe in this man and we hoped he would get re-elected and we worked hard for it," said Langan.

But for others, listening to the President's speech was way to instill hope in our nation's future.

Mike Doan was laid off four months ago after working 18 years for the same company.  He wants to see Obama create more jobs.

"Get as many people back to work as possible but the ones that can't get work, don't let them languish," said Doan.

That's something lawmakers said will have to be a bipartisan effort.

"It should be about us all working together and we've backed away from all that.  It shouldn't be about 2 years from now or 4 years from now it should be about right now," said Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen, who attended Monday's viewing party.
