Madison (WFRV) Governor Scott Walker says he has a solution to improve our schools.

The Governor says his idea is to reward teachers at schools that perform well.

The governor says State aid that would be going to schools in those districts could be given to teachers as bonuses.

He brought up his plan when he was in Milwaukee to discuss the status of education in Wisconsin.

The Governor also discussed issues regarding open enrollment in Wisconsin.

" Higher income and even higher middle class families historically have had the means by which to pay to put their kids in a school out of the public school setting that allowed to them to get out of a failing school.  Families that were poor didn't have that option."  Said Governor Walker.

The Governor says he's going to call for an increase in public school funding in his next budget.
