LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) Fox Valley Metro Police have responded to a half-dozen weather related accidents Wednesday.  In every case, they say speed was a factor.

The department called in extra officers to help keep up with the high volume of crashes.  Officials there tell us this is a worse snow storm then the blizzard we experienced in December - mainly because it began early this morning and is continuing into the evening commute.

Meanwhile, communities like the city of Menasha are under a snow emergency.  Appleton Police are keeping busy: Wednesday morning, they responded to more than a dozen accidents before noon.

Fox Valley Metro sent extra squad cars to the roadways near Little Chute High School, which remained in session.  There was concern the high volume of cars in the area, coupled with inexperienced drivers, could be problematic.

The Outagamie County Highway Dept. tells Local 5 Highway 41 and 441 remain problem spots.  They hope to have roads in better driving condition by Thursday morning.
